History of the Club

The Mid Tipperary G.A.A. Board was founded in 1907, but Boherlahan, as a club, did not come into existence until 1912 when Tommy O'Dwyer was the Club’s first chairman. Prior to this the parish had a number of competitive teams all very successful, and none more so than  the  famed Tubberadora,  who  won  All  Ireland  titles  in  1895,  1896  and  1898. Another successful club in the Parish prior to the formation of Boherlahan was Suir View Rangers who also won an All-Ireland title in 1897. Though Boherlahan contested the Mid final in 1912 they were defeated by the Thurles "Blues" but  in  the  following  year they  defeated  the  Jockey  5-4  to  1-0  for  their  first  Mid  title. Boherlahan won successive Mid titles up until 1919, except for 1915 when our Club opted into  the  South  division  and  took  the  County  title  as  well  as  the  South  title  that  year. Boherlahan again opted for the South division during the decade 1924 to 1934 so their next Mid success was not until 1941.Twelve unsuccessful years were to follow but in 1953 we again took the Mid title defeating Sarsfields at Templemore.  Similar success wasn't repeated until 1995 when we defeated rivals Loughmore to take the Corn Sheain Ui Laochda trophy (which was presented by the Leahy family to the division forty years previously) home to Tubberadora for the first time.  The  Club progressed through the county stages to be defeated in the county final by Nenagh Eire Óg which  motivated  the  team  to  regroup  and  again  challenge  for  the  ultimate  prize  in Tipperary Senior hurling.  The Club was then triumphant in the 1996 County Final in which we were   successful against Toomevara on a score line of 1-16 to 2-12.

The turn of the century has provided contrasting fortunes for the Club with the early 2000’s being competitive periods with some divisional final appearances. In more recent  times  however  we  have  found  ourselves  in  a  very  difficult  position  having  been relegated to Intermediate status in 2015 and junior shortly after.  However we did not remain at the junior grade for long as in 2018 we had the unique honour of winning both the Junior A and Junior B hurling titles in the same year.

The Juvenile Club was founded in 1980 and has grown steadily since with it today featuring teams starting from as young as under six.   Moderate on field success has occurred overall at Juvenile levels in recent years and signs are encouraging.

Our Camogie Club enjoyed great success in the early years of camogie competitions especially in the1940s and 1970s at adult level. We had a dormant number of years then until a great resurgence happened in 2004. This resurgence was inspired by the fantastic performances of a young group of girls from the parish in the Cumann na mBunscol Competition and Community Games Competition in 2003.  Massive creidit is due to the parents of those girls for having the initiave to get the Club up and running again. Since then the Club has gone from strength to strengh. We have been building steadily on our numbers at underage level year on year which is the key to any thriving club. Numerous county titles have been awarded to Boherlahan Dualla Camogie Club in recent years. Our adult team won the Junior B competition in 2016 and then the Junior A competition in 2021. We are now competing at Intermediate Level which is an inspiration to all of our younger players.  Huge effort has gone in from our club officers, coaches, players and parents to make our club what it is today. We currently have an amazing 217 members which includes 143 juvenile camogie members. It is truly rewarding for all involved to see so many girls enjoying camogie in our parish. Long may this continue!

Our Ladies Football Club was founded in 2007.

In 2016, additional land was acquired to develop a second pitch and an Astro training pitch as well to expand our complex to cater for the growing numbers within our club.

The  Club overall  has become  more  determined  than  ever  to  regain its  status as one of Tipperary's leading clubs and to challenge for titles once again, with many individuals working extremely hard at all levels in order to accomplish this
