Full Time Score:
Templemore: 2-4(10)
Boherlahan: 2-5(11)
Our young guns came out victorious in a game that went down to the wire played in horrendous conditions against a much fancied physical Templemore side.
Boherlahan started where they left off from their semi-final win and scored a goal and 2 points in the first 15 minutes.
The Manton twins, Sophie and Niamh shared the scores in the forward line, with great support play from Ruby Maher and Chloe Tobin.
Aoife O'Donnell and Leah Hickey popped up again with points which put us in a commanding lead as half time approached. Templemore slotted two frees just before the break to leave it at the break 1.4 to 0.2 to Boherlahan.
Second half saw Boherlahan start quick and a wonderful point from Sophie Manton gave us the best possible start. Templemore really came back strong and rallied to make it a titanic battle. Our backs stood firm. Our wonderful captain Sarah Murphy was outstanding & aided by a very capable Nicole Tarrant who covered every blade of grass. Our full back line were Siobhan O' Brien, Grace Power and Saoirse Maher who kept on top on their game for the duration. The pressure was relentless and Templemore popped two points over from frees. Then Blaithin Shelly scored a fantastic goal from a distance. It proved to be the winning score. Templemore popped up with a goal and with minutes to go were awarded a controversial penalty. Roisin Heffernan stood firm and made a fantastic save. Chloe Tobin was moved to a sweeper role for final minutes to hold on to our precious lead. Eight minutes of extra time was put on the clock by referee Rory Kennedy.
The final whistle blew and the large Boherlahan support were ecstatic as this young team defied the odds and won out on final score of 2.5 to 2.4.
Captain Sarah Murphy thanked coaches players and supporters and acknowledged a gallant Templemore Ladies Football team. Each and every girl gave it their all
Unfortunately Aine Coffey was unable to play due to illness and she played a huge part in our semi-final win.
Many thanks to Templemore Ladies Football club for a competition game.
A big thanks to John Tarrant & Camas Dairies(Jos Tobin) for kitting out our girls with shorts and socks for their special day.
Thank you to our management team who have coached and supported the girls throughout this tough campaign.
