Boherlahan Dualla GAA Club
Gaa’s Smoke & Vape Free Policy.
On Saturday 3rd September 2022 we launched our Smoke and Vape Free Grounds. On hand for the launch was Tipperary GAA Chairman Joe Kennedy, chairperson of the Healthy & Well Being committee Cora Moroney and Tipperary Ladies Football Chairman Michael Towey. This means smoking and Vaping is prohibited anywhere on the Boherlahan Gaa Grounds.
To date 60% of participating Healthy Clubs have already implemented the GAA Smoke & Vape Free Policy which aims to:
· protect the health of individuals in their clubs, wider communities, and visitors by keeping them safe from all tobacco related harm
· discourage the use of tobacco as such activity is incompatible with a healthy approach to sporting activity
· change social norms and encourage people to consider quitting and to reduce the initiation of smoking among young people.
· set a positive example for clubs and communities
· reduce tobacco use and exposure to second-hand smoke, which is severely harmful to people’s health
· minimise tobacco and electronic cigarette related litter
We ask for the support of all members, players, coaches, parents, visiting teams & wider community in providing a healthy and safe environment for all.
County Intermediate Championship
Boherlahan Dualla 1-18
Lorrha Dorrha 2-18
On Sunday 4th September our Intermediate hurlers travelled to Dolla to take on Lorrha Dorrha in the final group of this year’s Championship. Lorrha are one of the favourites for this year’s championship having being regulated to Intermediate the previous year. In a tough encounter, Boherlahan Dualla gave a great account of themselves sticking with Lorrha for the entire game. A goal from Aidan Maher in the 41st minute levelled matters. However Lorrha have being ruthless in front of goal all year and a second goal ten minutes from time proved to be the difference on the day.
All eyes turned to Clonmel that evening where the final group game was taking place. With a superior scoring difference, Boherlahan Dualla were assured of at least third place and if Carrick Davins were able to win against Golden, a second place finish was distinct possibility. Unfortunately, despite a spirted performance, Golden prevailed by a goal and qualified in second place.
Having won the Mid Final earlier in the year, Boherlahan Dualla now re-enter the competition at the preliminary quarter final stage and after such a positive performance no team will be looking forward to playing us. The draw for that game had to be delayed because in Group 2 Kickhams and Borrisokane could not be separated as they finished on the same points in the group with the same scoring difference and exact same points scored. As a result an extra play-off match is required with the winner joining Cappawhite & Kilsheelan in the draw to play Boherlahan Dualla in the preliminary Quarter Final.
